Interesting and Exciting TV Series

What is it about sci-fi TV that draws us in? Is it the science, drama, excitement of the unknown? Is it the fantasy of what life could be like, given the right circumstances? Is it the heroes and villains? Or is it our need to delve into the situations that bring out the best and worst in people? Maybe it’s all those things. Maybe it’s just fun to watch the fantasy unfold…

Eureka

Sheriff Jack Carter maintains the safety and security of Eureka’s genius residents—and the rest of the world from their inventions.

Warehouse 13

"The unknown has an address…" After saving the life of the President, two Secret Service agents find themselves abruptly transferred to Warehouse 13—a massive, top secret storage facility in windswept South Dakota that houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government.

Stargate Universe

In the latest series installment in the Stargate franchise, a group of people become stranded on an Ancient ship, the Destiny, and must work together despite their disparate agendas—or die. Darker than previous installments in the Stargate franchise, this series continues in the universe created by Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis.

Stargate Atlantis

Set in the Stargate universe begun with Stargate SG-1 (and the movie Stargate). The Atlantis expedition travels to the Pegasus galaxy, abandoned home of the Ancients, where they’re trapped with no way to dial the Stargate back to Earth, and they encounter a terrible enemy that feeds on humans. This series is worth revisiting. I’ve found I love this series even more now than when I first watched!

Stargate SG-1

The original Stargate television series—still awesome and fun! By traveling through a device known as the stargate, a team of explorers sets out to stop an enemy posing as gods from enslaving Earth.

Merlin

"You can’t escape destiny…" Good fantasy that works for the whole family. Merlin tells the story of Prince Arthur and the magician Merlin, who hides his magical abilities, as young men living in Camelot, where magic is forbidden and Prince Arthur’s fanatical father is determined to see every sorcerer and practitioner of magic dead.

Chuck

Chuck is lighthearted spy goodness with a hint of sci fi. I’m a longtime fan of the show and suggest everyone add these DVDs to their TV on DVD collections. Chuck is a Buy More employee, part of the Nerd Herd, who becomes the living host for the Intersect, a computer that houses all the secrets of the CIA, FBI, and other government spy agencies. Trouble ensues as he’s “handled” by two seasoned spies. Chuck is truly one of my favorites.

Fringe

More fantastical with every episode, Fringe follows the members of a "fringe" division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
