Doctor Who 2009 Specials?

Rumors of Dr. Who TV specials…

It would seem there are a lot of rumors and “news” reports that Doctor Who, while it won’t have a full season in 2009, will return with four television specials. It’s reported that these are one hour specials, one of which will be shown around Easter 2009, and another one Christmas Day. Russell T. Davies was supposed to have written two of the 2009 specials, along with having co-written the others. Other writers include Gareth Roberts and Phil Ford.

Maybe, just maybe they’ll give us little teasers for whether or not the series will return in 2010…

I got a feeling the 2009 Dr Who Specials are going to be fantastic. I hope they cover the time war and feature the 8th Doctor. Will the outcome of the 2009 Specials be the return of the Time Lords? Will the Master be behind it all or the Rani.

It appears that the 2009 specials will be fantastic, I’m sure. The first special will actually air December 25th 2008.

The “Christmas” special will feature the return of the Cybermen (those designed by Cybus Industries in the parallel universe). Supposedly, it will feature a new type of Cyberman called Cybershade, and a character named the CyberKing. You can watch a preview trailer here (depending on where you’re located as they’ve only made it available in the UK and a few other spots): http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/s4/misc/news/index.shtml?media=2

As for the rest of the specials, there is one slated to be aired around Easter 2009 and another on Christmas Day 2009.

There’s also the news that David Tenant will not be returning for the next run of this series in 2010 for the fifth year run. Here’s a link to the official article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/s4/misc/news/index.shtml

While this doesn’t really say that in 2009 the specials will be focused on either the Time War/Time Lords or if the Master will be in the mix, you can never say as this series has so many twists and turns…you never know! ;-)
